Detoxification – An essential component of health care

Detoxification

An essential component of health care

Detoxification is a critically important component of a wellness program, but it is not able to compensate for a highly toxic lifestyle.

We can not continue the degree of toxic overwhelm to the immune system and expect detoxification techniques to fix the problems.

Bombarding the body with toxins from the diet and environment is like leaving clutter and garbage throughout the house, exceeding the capacity for the cleaning crew to keep up. The levels of toxicity in the past 200 years has increased at such an exponential rate that we have not been able to adapt, hence the reason for alarmingly high rates of degenerative dis-eases. Over 85,000 synthetic chemicals have been added to the food system since 1942. Man made microwaves (EMF) and the wide spread use of cell phones and WiFi are a huge contributing factor to metabolic stress and toxicity.

So why detox? Imagine living in a home where for years you never cleaned, never dusted, never swept and mopped the floors, never cleaned the toilets and sinks and never cleaned the refrigerator. Besides being gross, things would not work well!

For the same reason the oil in a car needs to be changed after so many miles, the body needs to be “cleansed” from the build up of waste products produced from normal cellular metabolism.

When we expose our pet’s bodies to dietary toxins (like GMO’s, pesticides and hormones) and expose them to environmental toxins (like pesticides, toxic cleaners, air fresheners, propylene glycol and xenoestrogens), we overwhelm the bodies natural organs of detoxification and the result is dis-ease.

Our pet’s bodies (and ours) are exquisite machines ingeniously designed for self cleansing and detoxification. Dogs and cats have 6 organs of elimination (lungs, kidneys, liver, colon, skin and lymphatics) and an immune system. When the organs of elimination are doing their job, it is not always a pleasant experience (vomiting, diarrhea and exudative skin dis-ease for example), but they are necessary and effective! Because our lifestyles exceed the capacity of the bodies natural detoxification system, we need to help detoxify using a variety of natural methods. When properly maintained, the body is self sustaining and capable of regenerating itself, making 300 billion new cells a day!

Symptoms are the bodies communication that a deeper root cause needs to be addressed!

– Systematic Approach To Detoxification –

Before beginning a detox program, speak with a knowledgable holistic integrated veterinarian. It is vitally important to do no harm in the quest to do good. Animals are not small people and some things that are good for people may be toxic to pets!

Reduce Environmental Toxins

Stop pollution and cellular damage by eliminating exposure you have control over (can’t clean the floors in a house while people keep tracking through with muddy shoes!) You can’t effectively detox while continuing to bombard the body with toxins. Reduce or remove chemicals, pesticides, preservatives, mycotoxins and xenoestrogens (estrogen mimicking substances found in soaps, cleaners, cosmetics and plastics). Have your home tested for EMF (once issues are identified, mitigation to reduce the problem is available).

Solutions

Clean with vinegar, water, hydrogen peroxide and essential oils (improves air quality as well.) Contact me for specific companies that use microfiber cloths impregnated with silver. Use only organic products for anything that touches the skin, and use natural methods for yard care.

Eliminate plastic (BPA and BPS) from toys and dishes. If you can’t avoid walking your pet through contaminated/chemically sprayed lawns, have them wear booties or wash their feet to reduce absorption. Reduce EMF exposure. Turn off wifi when not home and when sleeping.

Increase the distance from the EMF (don’t place pet beds by routers). Avoid “smart devices” as they produce excessive EMF. Employ protection devices against electromagnetic fields (EMFs).

– Controlling Inflammation and Obesity –

STOP FEEDING TOXINS

Processed diets (kibble and can foods) are devoid of enzymes and probiotics (vitally needed gut bacteria and yeast). They are loaded with omega-6 fatty acids (which promotes inflammation) and deficient in omega-3s.

Processed diets are high in carbohydrates (dogs and cats are not designed to eat a high carb diet) which leads to poor digestion, obesity and a suppressed immune system. The fats may go rancid once the bag is opened longer than a week. Read labels!!! Avoid diets with artificial colors and preservatives. If you can’t pronounce an ingredient, don’t let your pet eat it! Toxins that can not be eliminated by the body are stored in fat and are released slowly over time, creating dis-ease.

Solution

Feed a species appropriate balanced (proper ratio of muscle meat, organ meats, bone and fat) grass fed raw diet (dogs are carnivores and cats are obligate carnivores) along with the essential vitamins, minerals and fatty acids. For more information on raw feeding, go to evoloveraw.com

 – Avoid Over Medicating and Over Vaccinating –

We have been a society that treats symptoms and ignores the root cause. The “symptom” is an indicator light, a clue designed to lead you to the underlying issue.

Solution

Do all the above well and pets will rarely get sick. If medication is needed, choose alternative therapies when appropriate or integrate eastern and western treatments when applicable.

Consider risk of exposure when determining what vaccines to administer.

Vaccines do not make pets healthy, they are designed to stimulate an immune response

– NEVER VACCINATE AN ANIMAL THAT IS NOT HEALTHY –

Skin disease, gastrointestinal disorders and musculoskeletal issues are all indicators that an animal is under stress. These issues should be resolved before stimulating with a vaccine or the vaccine response will further stress an already compromised immune system!

Choose a 3 year vaccine when possible. When available, do vaccine titers to determine if the pet really needs the vaccine or is still protected from previous shots. We give homeopathic remedies after vaccination.

– Specific Tips To Detoxify –

A good detox program begins with a thorough history (including chronic and acute issues) and a physical exam. Bioenergetic testing looks at the frequencies that are out of balance and provides the balancing frequencies to restore the balance and allow the body to heal. It is a simple and inexpensive test we run in our office. Yearly blood work that includes a complete blood count, chemistry profile and urinalysis aid in evaluating the function of the kidneys, liver and other organs. This information guides our choices for detoxification.

It is important to have the major routes of elimination open before beginning a detox. Once toxins are being released, they need to safely and effectively leave the body, otherwise they can create more serious dis-ease.

There are many ways to detox, not one is better or worse, it is what the individual patient needs. That being said, the liver is always the center of my detox program. I use herbs (both Chinese and western), salt room therapy, gem stone and full spectrum light, homeopathy, frequency, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), Ozone, PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic frequency), far infrared sauna, coffee enemas, chiropractic care, acupuncture, releasing trapped emotions and lymphatic drainage in my detox program.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, Ozone and pulsed electromagnetic frequency (PEMF) are revolutionary medical technologies. Amongst their many benefits, they help the body eliminate waste and toxins and are effective for against many degenerative dis-eases. Changes in live blood are evident after therapy.

Red blood cells function best when they are separated. They carry oxygen and nutrients to the tissues and remove waste products.

Frequency Of Detoxification

It is virtually impossible to remove all toxins from an animals environment, making it vitally important to routinely detoxify and support the organs of elimination.

Frequency of detoxification depends on the amount of toxic exposure a pet has and if they are already showing signs of dis-ease. The more exposure and concurrent dis-ease, the more frequent and intense the detoxification recommendations. Good diet/digestion, quality water, clean environment and adequate exercise should be a daily objective. At minimum, monthly organ support and cleanses are indicated. Work with an experienced integrated holistic veterinarian for specific details on your pets detoxification program.

Can’t Trade In The Body Or Move To A New One

When your house or car get so old and debilitated it is not worth doing the repairs, you can move or buy another. We can’t buy a new body for our pets (or ourselves). Live a sustainable lifestyle and treat the body as the most valuable and precious possession that it is.
