Dr. Marlene Siegel

Dr. Siegel's  passion for medicine was fueled in 1975 when she became an emergency medical technician.  While going to college, she worked on an ambulance and in an emergency room.  She became the first female paramedic in the state of Fla in 1977.  Veterinary medicine was always her first priority, and she fulfilled her life's passion when she graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985.

Dr. Siegel spent the first year post graduation in a 5 doctor small animal and exotic practice.  She then accepted a position in a veterinary emergency clinic where she practiced and managed the hospital.  In addition to the emergency clinic, Dr. Siegel worked in several daytime practices as a relief veterinarian.  She opened her existing small animal and exotic practice in 1987.

In 1996 Dr. Siegel became certified in Redirecting Children’s Behavior, a course that teaches parents communication skills and how to recognize and deal with power struggles, inappropriate attention issues, revenge, and inadequacy.  She taught community courses for 10 years and now teaches one on one classes.

In 2004 one of Dr. Siegel’s show horses developed debilitating neck spasm.  Traditional western medicine was unable to fix the problem.  Dr. Siegel was unwilling to give up, and sought alternative means to treat the mare.  The journey to fix Lilly led to chiropractic training, a thorough understanding of nutrition, chinese medicine, acupuncture, Jin Shin jyutsu, chinese herbs, intrinsic energy products, therapeutic laser, essential oils, Bach Flowers, emotional healing, and certification in Live Blood Analysis.  All these modalities and more are integrated into her treatment protocols resulting in greater success than western modalities alone.

Her interest in alternative medicine lead her to a degree in natural health , and by 2012, she will be a Certified Natural Health Professional.

Dr. Siegel has been featured on several local TV shows, has given numerous lectures on integrating holistic care in veterinary medicine, and has written newspaper columns on veterinary care for pets.  She participates in many community service projects including The Great American Teach In and Toys 4 Tots.

Dr. Siegel married her soul mate, Jerry, in 1992.  They have 2 daughters, Alyssa 17 and Demi 15.  Along with a full time career, Dr. Siegel home schooled their daughters from first and third grade respectively.  The kids, having literally grown up in the veterinary office under the watchful eye of mom and dad, now work in the veterinary hospital, making practice a family business.

As a team, Jerry and Dr. Siegel have pioneered in the field of veterinary medicine.  They were the first hospital in Florida to offer ultrasound telemedicine, and the second hospital to offer class 4 laser therapy.  They were first on board with digital radiography, and they continue to strive to stay cutting edge in the profession.

Dr. Siegel began VSST- Veterinary Support Staff Training in 2006.  It is a program that teaches lay people an introduction to veterinary receptionist and veterinary technician assistant, enabling them to get an idea of what the profession requires and a foot in the door for those seeking a career in veterinary medicine.

She feels her role as a practitioner is to educate and empower people to make informed decisions.  Her client/patient relationships starts with a complete history and a thorough physical exam.  She then educates the owner of the options available, helping them to make decisions right for them and their pet.

Her hobbies and interests are as varied as her accomplishments, with interests in sports (particularly horses, tennis, dance, water skiing, snow skiing, snorkeling, diving, and fishing), though she is up for anything short of jumping out of airplanes.  She also enjoys many arts and crafts and reading.

She is an accomplished cook (contributing recipes to a cook book her kids wrote) and has recently co authored a children’s book with her daughter Alyssa.

She is currently training her own show horses and is becoming an avid permaculturist.

Though Dr. Siegel didn’t grow up having many animals, she has made up for that in her adult life.  She currently has 7 horses, 3 cats, 1 dog, several birds, fish, chickens, and a snake.

Dr. Kim Domokos

Dr. Kim Domokos joined Pasco Veterinary Medical Center in 2009 after completing her veterinary degree at St. George's University with her clinical studies completed at the University of Florida.  She received her B.S. in Biology from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL in 2004.  She is a member of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association and is also USDA Certified.

Dr. Kim and her identical twin sister Andrea are the youngest of 5 siblings.   A majority of her family currently lives in Florida and are involved in the medical field.  Dr. Kim and her husband Derek share their residence with their three dogs (a pug, a puggle, and a french bulldog).   She loves to travel and has lived in several states including Oklahoma, Virginia, Minnesota, Delaware, Grenada West Indies, and Florida.  Her other hobbies include, gardening, scuba diving, and spending time with her family, but she has a special love for running.  She ran cross-country and track in Jr. High School and received a scholarship to run while in college.  In 2011 she completed a one half marathon with her siblings and is in training for another.

Dr Kim is dedicated to providing the highest quality medicine and surgery for her patients while fostering a loving nurturing environment.  Her interest in alternative medicine was sparked when she started working at PVMC, but became a passion when her own dog, Snickers, developed a sudden severe hind limb paralysis from a degenerative disc rupture.  Snickers became instantly paralyzed.  Traditional western medicine was not enough to get Snickers to walk again.  Intensive therapy with acupuncture, chinese herbs, veterinary chiropractics, homotoxicology and essential oils lead Snickers on a road to recovery.  Snickers has made a remarkable recovery and is now running laps around the other dogs at home.

Jerry Harrell

Jerry Harrell and Dr. Siegel met in 1990, and married in 1992.  While they were dating he built the first addition to the hospital.  He began working full time in the hospital when Dr. Siegel was pregnant with their first child in 1993.  As a team they grew a successful practice, stayed cutting edge in the veterinary world, and raised their 2 daughters.  Prior to joining Pasco Vet, Jerry was a licensed General Contractor.

Jerry is an indispensable member of our team, lovingly referred to as the jack of all trades because there is nothing he can’t do.  His construction talents enabled him to design and build our kennels, remodel our original buildings, and design and oversee the construction of our expanded facility.  He not only designed the waterfall and pond that graces our entrance way, he built it!

Jerry has a keen sense of how to meet the needs of the clients.  He tirelessly keeps us updated in the latest technologies.  Thanks to Jerry we offer the latest in dental radiography, digital radiology, ultrasound, endoscopy, computer services, and social media.  He is trained in chiropractic adjustments, ultrasound, and flexible endoscopy.

His special interest are in dentistry and natural health.  He has been a member of the ASVDT as a Dental Technician for over 15 years.  He is also a wellness coach, certified through CNHP ( certified natural health professionals).

Jerry is involved in every aspect of the clinic, from surgical assistance to staff management to equipment and building maintenance.

His sports interests include road racing , snow and water skiing, fishing, biking, , boating,  farming, cooking, making wines, and enjoying time with his family.

Alyssa Harrell

Alyssa has been with Pasco Veterinary Medical Center all her life, literally.  She is the oldest daughter of Dr. Siegel and Jerry Harrell.  She began her career with Pasco Vet when she was less than 24 hours old, coming to work with mom.

She completed her first three years of schooling in a public school and from fourth grade on has been home schooled.  Being at the office every day provided the opportunity for hands on training.  Social skills such as answering phones, greeting clients, general customer service duties, and computer skills were part of her daily exposure.  By nine years of age she was becoming skillful in the front desk duties along with some of the technician skills.

Today, in conjunction with finishing high school, she is working full time in the office and is in training to take over the practice management position.

Following in the footsteps of her parents, she is passionate about natural health.  By the end of 2011, she will have completed a year long study in natural health and have earned her certificate as a wellness coach through the Certified Natural Health Professionals.

She has a particular passion for cooking and has attended programs for the culinary arts.  She has had multiple catering jobs, and with contributions from friends and family has published a cook book.  She is currently working on her second cook book that will cover healthy holistically minded recipes along with educating people on how to eat and heal with whole foods.

In addition to being a straight “A” student, she is an entrepreneur.  She owns three other business’s.  One involves intrinsic energy products that help restore balance to people without using drugs.  Another involves a healthy, organic coffee, and the third is bling (jewelry), not healthy or organic but very fun!

In addition to her cook book, she has just published a children’s story.  It started as a home school project when she was ten years old to write a fiction story with facts involving dolphins.  Dr. Siegel contributed by “fleshing” the story, and Carol Mecum (the artist who painted Pasco Veterinary Medical Center) illustrated it.  The book has won Editors Choice Award- a prestigious award granted to less than 10% of self published books- and is awarded based on editorial content.  We are hopeful the story will be made into a movie.

Look for Demi and the Dolphinson line and in book stores.  Alyssa will happily autograph copies!

Alyssa is also an accomplished equestrian rider, having won many titles in English riding.  She currently helps her mom train their 5 show horses.  She also enjoys exercising, boating, and having fun with family.

Demi Harrell

Demi Harrell is the youngest daughter of Dr. Siegel and Jerry Harrell.  Like her sister, she has grown up  in the nurturing company of animals.    Having been raised in a business setting, she has learned the skill sets needed to run an office.  She too works in all capacities of the office.

Demi completed first grade in public school and has been home schooled since.  She is currently fifteen years old and completing her eleventh grade.

Her passions are horses and dance.  Though she was chosen to perform in her dance company, scheduling conflicts made her chose between horse showing and dance competition.  She chose horses, and won numerous titles in both hunter and English classes, peaking her show career with a Reserve Nation Champion title on her country English horse Lilly LaKrewe.

Following the family trend, she is becoming a CNHP (Certified Natural Health Professional) and may be the youngest wellness coach in the country.

While maintaing straight “A”s in school, she helps her mom train their horses, and works in the veterinary hospital.  Her academic brilliance is matched by her athletic skills.  Her most recent quest is to play the guitar.  As in all the things Demi seeks to do, she is accelerating in her ability to master the guitar.

A friend to everyone and a joyful friendly spirit, Demi brings sunshine to everyday.  She enjoys the same sports as her parents, particularly boating, art, reading, and having fun with her friends.

Joselyn

Joselyn has been apart of the Pasco Vet team, along with her best friend (and neighbor), Nicky, Since March of 2011.

She began studying under Dr. Siegel not knowing whether she would enjoy the vet industry or not. Since being employed at Pasco Vet she has decided there is nothing else in the world she would rather be doing! With the desire to learn more about the veterinary field, along with the holistic side, she hopes to soon pursue professional grooming and vet dental work.

Joselyn currently has 2 dogs, 2 cats, a rabbit and a snake as pets. Jose is her nickname, and her hobbies consist of trying new foods, traveling, grooming dogs with new styles, and hanging out with Nicky.

Nicky

Nicky joined us as a tech assistant in April of 2011 along with her best friend Joselyn. Together they studied under doctor Siegel in both traditional and holistic medicine. Since joining us she has developed great relationships not only with our patients, but also the clients. Everyday she is learning something new and exciting.

She is the mother of two fantastic young boys and equally wonderful dogs. In her spare time she enjoys four-wheeler riding, and just being with family, friends, and her pups.
